The SILVA Tree Viewer implements an interactive feedback system that can be used to give different types of feedback:
This tutorial demonstrates how to report a taxonomy problem, which is a two step process.
Once you locate data presenting potential problems in the tree, you can start the feedback process by clicking on the "Feedback" flag on the right of the tree view area.
The main feedback menu appears, from where you can choose the "Report a taxonomy problem" item.
The data problem form appears, notifying that no data element has been selected. Before you can proceed with the report, you have to pick some data. The pick data mode is activated by the "PICK DATA" button.
When in pick mode, the viewer allows selection of data elements, both sequences and taxa can be selected:
Once the data has been selected, click the "Done Picking Data" button to go back to the data report form.
Now that some data has been picked for the report, you can click on "PROCEED" to go to the next step.
In the date report collector form, provide a title for your report in the "Summary" field an accurate description of the problem in the "Description" fields. Do NOT submit you report yet, instead scroll down the collector to show further fields.
For your report to be acted upon, your name and e-mail have to be provided. Fill in the information in the respective fields, then click on "Submit" to send your report to the SILVA Taxonomy curators.
You will receive a confirmation when your report is successfully submitted.
